At the Localist, we thought it was time for the best burger guide on the Granite Belt. Whilst delving into the world of hot chips in Stanthorpe, many delicious burgers on the menu tempted me to return. Stanthorpe and the Granite Belt offer the best of both worlds when it comes to food. Locally produced delicacies using the best seasonal fresh produce along with deep-fried, well-grilled, old-fashioned comfort.
Anyone who follows my blog knows that while I may be plant-based I am obsessed with delicious food, regardless of whether it is designed for the carnivore or omnivore. One of my favourite things has always been a good burger. For me, a good burger needs to tempt your taste buds with that just off the grill smell first. If you end up with beetroot and onion juice dripping down your wrists even better!
To come up with the best burger guide for you, I asked my very discerning 13-year-old twins to accompany me. We have a long history of sharing burgers together, and they have exacting standards! We have compiled a list of our four favourite burger stops, though obviously there are many more options in the Granite Belt.
The best burger guide on the Granite Belt:
Blue Topaz Retro Burger Diner
The Blue Topaz Retro Burger Diner is fast gaining a reputation for serving some of the best burgers in the region. Blue Topaz has amazing retro décor which gives customers the feeling of dining in an American Diner. Their menu is extensive with 10 burger choices which include a chicken, fish, and vegetarian option. Their burgers are generously sized and incredibly reasonably priced.
We would recommend this one as a dine-in option so you can enjoy the decor. If you are a guest of the Blue Topaz Caravan Park or have a designated driver you can take advantage of the fact that they are licensed. A beer, burger, and loaded fries sound like the perfect Saturday afternoon!
Blue Topaz is located at 26806 New England Highway, Severnlea in front of the Blue Topaz Caravan Park.
Opening hours: 7 days a week, opening late on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
Café 77
Café 77 is a great addition to the Stanthorpe block and is known for its range of burgers that are delicious and reasonably priced. They offer 15 burger choices that include multiple options for chicken lovers and a fish and vegetarian option. They also offer a roasted vegetable vegan option which was delicious.
This is another great dine-in option. If you are lucky enough to get a seat on the sidewalk, you can enjoy your burger while watching the world go by!
Café 77 is located at 41 Maryland Street Stanthorpe.
Opening hours: 7 days a week. 8.30am to 4 pm on weekdays and from 8.30am to 3.30pm on the weekend.
Brinx Deli & Cafe
Brinx Deli & Café is somewhat of a Stanthorpe institution. Their delicatessen stocks a large assortment of cheeses, charcuterie, olives, and antipasto. The deli also sells a huge range of locally produced delicacies. Their café menu revolves around their delicatessen so if you like your burger more on the sophisticated side, then Brinx Deli & Café will be a great option for you.
The Brinx Deli Italian Hamburger includes pancetta, is generously portioned, and comes with a side of fries. They offer a vegan option which includes the most delicious array of roasted vegetables with basil pesto. Brinx Deli & Café provides a takeaway service and is known for their platters, but we recommend dining in to soak up the gourmet atmosphere.
Brinx Deli & Café is located at 18 Maryland Street, Stanthorpe.
Opening hours: 7 days a week. 7.45 am to 2.45 pm Monday to Friday, from 7.45 am to 12 pm on Saturday, and from 8 am to 12 pm on Sunday.
Stanthorpe Fish Bar & Takeaway
You will find Stanthorpe Fish Bar & Takeaway in Davadi Street, Stanthorpe. This is another popular spot with the locals for tasty Aussie takeaways and for their delicious Korean food. We love their burger because it is a good old Aussie burger. Get your burger with the lot for all the traditional flavours! They do have fish and chicken options, but no vegetarian or vegan choices.
Stanthorpe Fish Bar & Takeaway has a few tables and is licensed if you fancy dining in, though we recommend this one as a good takeaway option with plenty of Stanthorpe picnic options nearby.
Stanthorpe Fish Bar & Takeaway is located at 13 Davadi Street Stanthorpe.
Opening hours: 7 days a week from 11 am to 8 pm.
